Director of R&D Engineering
Mazda North American Operations
As Director of R&D Engineering for Mazda North American Operations, Kelvin Hiraishi is responsible for overseeing all functions of the company’s R&D engineering and advance business strategy including vehicle dynamics, vehicle human engineering, powertrain performance, advance technology research, product testing, product evaluation as well as Mazdaspeed vehicle development and Motorsports governance committee advisor. In this role, he also serves as the day-to-day contact for Mazda HQ Hiroshima Japan as well as their other R&D engineering branches worldwide.
Since joining Mazda in 1990, Hiraishi has held a number of key positions including Manager of the company’s Product Excellence Team, Manager of Marketability & Testing and Project Manager of Planning and Development.
Prior to joining Mazda, he served as a Quality Assurance Project Engineer for American Isuzu Motors Inc.
Hiraishi graduated with a bachelor’s of business administration from California State University – Pomona.
