Born December 26, 1959 in Wakayama Prefecture. Supervisor and founder of Creative Team ｐｈｙΦ.

He is best known for his works, MAGNETIC ROSE from anime trilogy MEMORIES, EXTRA (music video), Animatrix, and Dimension Bomb. He received the Cannes Cyber Lions Silver for an interactive anti-smoking campaign ad in France. (2011) A Better Tomorrow, his collaboration work for LEXUS SHORT FILMS world-premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. The same year, he directed the opening animation for omnibus SHORT PEACE and also took on script and direction of theater piece Sheepman012. The teaser for Japanese post-rock band MONO’s 2014 release is his latest animation work.

The special opening night event presented by J-POP SUMMIT 2015 and Japan Film Festival of San Francisco will take place at the celebrated Castro Theatre of San Francisco. The event invites actor Tadanobu Asano to the stage for a Q & A session that follows the screening of cult film ELECTRIC DRAGON 80000V (directed by Sogo Ishii). The night concludes with a sound and visual collaboration presentation by DJ Ken Ishii and director Koji Morimoto.

JAPAN FILM FESTIVAL OF SF is honored to host an evening with Actor Tadanobu Asano! The world-renowned actor, known for his stunning performance in Miike’s Ichi The Killer, Academy-nominated Mongol, and Marvel’s Blockbuster Thor, will attend to receive an award. The evening will be followed by a special 35mm presentation of ELECTRIC DRAGON 80000V!
